PiSec was formed in the Summer of 2008 with the aim of filling the gap for a local Oracle Partner focussed entirely on the needs of customers in Scotland specialising solely in Oracle database technology solutions.  All our consultants are Oracle Certified Professionals and have obtained MOD SC clearance as part of a basic requirement for one of our customers, giving you the assurance of knowing you're dealing with qualified and trusted Oracle professionals.

We take our environmental responsibility very seriously.

  • We never fly internally within the UK unless it's an absolute necessity due to a serious emergency which requires our consultants to be there at short notice.
  • We ensure that all waste paper, cardboard, plastic and related products are recycled.
  • Paper use is minimised through reduced numbers of printers, unnecessary printing and use of Content Management System.
  • Fully WEEE directive compliance for the disposal of electrical waste
  • Low energy lighting levels, TFT displays to replace older and less efficient CRTs
  • Encourage energy smart sleep and complete power down for all PCs out of hours
As a hosting company, our power consumption is also at the heart of our environmental concerns.  We consume literally megawatts of power on a 24x7 basis across our datacentres, and it is therefore crucial that we mitigate the impact of these services on the environment. Whilst some hosting companies purchase ROCs (Renewable Obligation Certificates) or use "Offsetting" to mitigate their impact, we do not believe that alone they can be fairly shown to consistently and clearly achieve their stated aims. There is much controversy surrounding ROCs and Offsetting due to the lack of transparency or globally accepted standards. This means that we do not believe that Offsetting provides a consistent or fair recognition of the environmental impact that is being mitigated.

Despite these problems, PiSec Ltd does still aim to encourage the construction of renewable energy sources in the UK through the purchase of 100% of our mains grid power through Green tariffs, giving you the assurance that you're dealing with an Oracle Partner who really cares about the environment and it's  future for our children.
